Ernest Harris

Mr. Ernest Lee Harris, 78, Crawfordsville, passed away on Thursday, April 9, at 2:55 PM in Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville. He was born February 8, 1936 in Indianapolis, to Earl and Thelma (Brown) Harris. He married Deloris Mae McCaslin on August 20, 1955, in Indianapolis. She preceded him in death May 5th, 2010.

Mr. Harris retired in 1994 after 38 years as a Journeyman Sheet Metal Foreman for Tarpenning & LaFollette in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union #20, where he taught in the Sheet Metal Apprentice Program; he was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis; and enjoyed woodworking in his free time.

He is survived by his children: Kristi (Duffy) Thornburg, Jamestown; Karen (Henry) Lukenbill, Bainbridge; David (Catherine) Harris, Ooltewah, Tennessee; brothers: Tom (Jane) Harris, Indianapolis; Charles (Betty) Harris, Greenwood; sister: Patty Stutsman, Cloverdale. Also surviving are grandchildren: Jeff Snapp, April Clodfelter, Jennifer Day, Jill Bretney, Duffy Thornburg, Jr., Ashley Jenkins, Amber Brennen; and19 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Dave Harris; brother-in-law: Charles Stutsman.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, April 13, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Rev. Isaac Zull officiating. Burial will be in the Hebron Cemetery, Russellville.
