Evelyn Marie Hendricks, 85, of North Fort Myers, Florida, and formerly of Lafayette, Crawfordsville and Henry County, Indiana went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 3, 2015 in Florida.
Evelyn was born February 25, 1930 in Henry County, the daughter of Kermit and Corrine C. (nee Sweigart) McLain. She attended Cadiz High School before she married Floyd Alvin Hendricks on September 9, 1947, at Greensburg. He preceded her in death March 9, 1985.
Evelyn was a very busy and industrious lady helping her husband on the farm and with dairy cattle. Later she worked as a laborer for Steel Industries of Crawfordsville. She drove for U-Haul and while in Florida she worked at "The Shell Factory" grading sea shells. She enjoyed staying occupied and being around people.
Evelyn is survived by son Gail (Carrie) Hendricks of North Fort Meyers, Fl.; three daughters, Marjorie (Jim) Benge of Crawfordsville, Sherilyn (Curt) Wilcoxen of Lexington, KY, and Marilyn Bumbleburg of Lafayette; step-daughter Carolyn (John) Harper of Monon; brother Charles McLain of New Castle, and three sisters Janet (Max) Hunt of Anderson, Dorothy (John) Russell of Lapel and Sharon (Stephen) Farthing of Middletown; 15 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and step-son Darrell Hendricks.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, May 9 at Friendship Baptist Church, 1981 W. Oak Hill Road Crawfordsville with the Rev. Chris Horton and Rev. Roger Hendricks officiating. The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. until the services Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Mechanicsburg Cemetery in Henry County on Saturday.
