Mrs. Flossie Irene Springer a resident of Lane House nursing home, passed away Friday January 23, 2015. She was 93.
Flossie was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife and mother. She was the ninth of twelve children born to Samel Isaac Yaryan and Dora Mae (nee Fruits) Yaryan. Flossie was born in Waveland, IN and was raised and attended schools in the area. She met and married Dale Vernon Springer and in 1940 they moved to Waynetown and started raising their family. They had 5 children; Doris Irene Springer, Donna Jean Tuttle of Howey in the Hills, FL., Jerry Dale (wife Retta) of Glasgow, KY., Judy Kay McClure of Lafayette, IN., and Timothy Ray (wife Ann) of Waynetown, IN.
Flossie was a homemaker with many talents, she was a great speller and knew the meaning of the words. Many times her grandkids would call her to find out how to spell a word and what the meaning was rather than looking it up in a dictionary. She was an excellent cook, a girl scout leader, den mother, excellent seamstress, and artist and painter. Gifted at writing poetry, many of her poems appeared in the Journal Review and 2 poems were published in the books East of the Sunrise and best Poems of 1996.
Flossie came from a musical family, she did not read music but could play the fiddle, mandolin, accordion, piano and guitar. She could hear a song and then pick up one of her instruments and play the song.
Flossie was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 8 sisters, a daughter (Doris Irene Oct. 6, 1940-Nov 3, 1941) and her husband Dale
(Oct. 18, 1917 to Aug. 6, 1996). Flossie will be sadly missed by her 4 children, 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren and her brother Max (wife Thelma) Yaryan of Lebanon, IN.
The family will receive guest at shoemaker Funeral Home 202 Bratton Road, Waynetown, IN., Tuesday January 27th, 2015 from 4:00pm to 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Guardian Angels Hospice, enevelopes will be available at the funeral home.
