Frances Spurgeon

rs. Frances I. Spurgeon, 90, Rensselaer, formerly of Crawfordsville, passed away Monday, June 3, at 3:16 PM in th Jackson County Hospital, Rensselaer. She was born in Salem, Indiana, to John and Pearl (Gilstrap) Taylor. She married George Dwight Spurgeon, December 16, 1939 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He preceded her in death February 12, 2006.

Mrs. Spurgeon had been her husband's business partner with the Spurgeon Trucking, Russellville; owned several service stations in Crawfordsville for 18 years; and owned the Crawfordsville Burial Vault Company for 13 years. She was a member of the Russellville Christian Church; Eagles Women's Auxilliary; attended Salem High School; loved Pacers, IU, Purdue basketball and NASCAR racing; loved flowers and meeting new people.

She is survived by her son: Steven Spurgeon, Remington; her daughter-in-law: Nancy Spurgeon, Crawfordsville; grandchildren: Susie, Lynn, Keith, Austin, Stefanie, and Connor; and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 sons: infant son Francis Dwight; Dwight Cordell; and Patrick Keith; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, June 7, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Oak Hill North Cemetery.
