Francis Keith Schanlaub, age 83, of Kingman passed away at 1:38 pm on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the Indiana Veterans Home in West Lafayette. He was born in Mt. Ayr, IN on October 5, 1931 to the late Earl and Mary Ann (Watkins) Schanlaub.

Francis graduated from Mt. Ayr High School in 1950 and married Patricia Sanders in 1951, whom preceded him in death on December 30, 1990. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952-1953. Throughout the years he worked at Fountain Foundry, C&D Technology, Inland Container and retired from the Sealy Springs factory after 25 years.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW1279 and American Legion in Rensselaer. He enjoyed camping, fishing, reading Western books, and was a vendor at Flea markets.

He is survived by four sons, Robert Schanlaub of Rensselaer, Albert (Susan) Schanlaub of Alabama, Howard (Lori) Schanlaub of Mellott, and George (Penny) Schanlaub of Cates; three daughters, Patricia Blue of Sheridan, Mary Violet (Paul) Joseph of Wolcott, and Laurie Kiger of Cates; one brother, Larry Schanlaub of Morocco; two sisters, Audrey Duley and Judy Reece, both of Lafayette; 27 grandchildren, a herd of great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, his parents, his sister, Donna, his daughter, Sandra, a granddaughter, Dawn Kopka and 3 great grandsons.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 5-8pm (Eastern Time) at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street, in Kingman. Funeral service will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the funeral home with Tom Covington officiating. Burial will at Coal Creek Cemetery with full military honors.
