Freda Jean Baker, 84, of Crawfordsville passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday evening, October 23, 2015, at Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health-Crawfordsville.

Jean was a dedicated, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She meant the world to her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was born April 4, 1931, in Pulaski County, Kentucky, to Herbert and Zula Wall. Jean graduated from Marshall High School with the class of 1949 which included dear friends Roleen Pickard, Gene Jones and his wife, Maxine.

She joins in heaven the love of her life, Harold F. Baker, her husband of 61 years. They were married at the home of her parents on February 9, 1952. She was very happy being a farmer's wife.

Jean loved the Lord and longed for Him to take her home. She and Harold were very active in the Whitesville Christian Church from the time of their marriage until their passing.

She is survived by her children Linda (Michael) Thomas, Donald (Linda) Baker, and Duane (Christine) Baker. She is dearly loved by 5 grandchildren: Michael (Jacqui) Thomas, Tonya (Bryce) Knox, Brian Baker, Jeremy (Brittany) Baker, and Brittany (Blake) Sempsrott. Her life was greatly brightened by four great-granddaughters Myah, Kalee, Mackenzie, and Olivia, and on great-grandson Levi.

She is also survived by sisters Thelma "Lou" Douglas, Velma "Norene" Servies, and Lorma Hale; brother-in-law, J.B. Hale; sister-in-law, Patricia Utterback; and dear friend Ninalee Davidson. She was also dearly loved by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers-in-law Jim Douglas, Max Servies, and John Utterback, sisters-in-law Lois Sillery and Sue Baker; and beloved friend, Maxine Hockersmith.

Funeral services (a celebration of her life) will be held at 1 PM Thursday at Whitesville Christian Church with Rev. Mike Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to the Whitesville Christian Church, 3603 S.
