Frieda Ritchey

Mrs. Frieda Frances (Rice) Ritchey, 96, Crawfordsville, died at 9:30 AM Sunday, February 9, 2014, in Bickford of Crawfordsville Senior Living Residence. She moved into Bickford May 1, 2005. She was born May 7, 1917, in Fountain County, IN, to Marvin and Vera (Gose) Rice. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1935.

On July 2, 1936, she was married to Wilfred W. Ritchey. After living in Summitville, IN, Marshall, IL, and Gary, IN, she and Wilfred settled into farm life in Parke County, IN, for the next 50 years. She and Wilfred also worked over 20 years at Turkey Run State Park. They began as saddle barn concessionaires, then Wilfred became the Superintendent of the park.

Survivors include daughter: Phyllis Ritchey Cockerill ( Edward), Zionsville, IN; son: James Ritchey (Janice), Casey, IL; brother: Wilbur Rice (Janet), Crawfordsville; 5 granddaughters: Catherine C. Moran, Muncie, IN; Crista C. Wilkins, Brownsburg, IN; Caryn C. Anderson (David), Zionsville, IN; Jeana Block (Ryan); Jamie Vaiden (Chris); 12 great grandchildren: Thomas, Eleanor, and Joseph Moran; Emma and Edward G. Wilkins; Nick, Kevin, and Katie Anderson; Connor, Kyleigh, and Carson Block; CJ Vaiden. Husband, Wilfred, daughter, Martha Marlene Ritchey, brother, Morris Rice, sister, Lena Rice and grand son-in-law, George Wilkins preceded her in death.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, Crawfordsville. The family will greet friends on Saturday in the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the service time. Burial will be in the Kingman Fraternal Cemetery, Kingman, IN.
