Gary Lee Abernathy

Gary Lee Abernathy, age 71, of Veedersburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at his residence.

He was born in Danville, IL to the late Dave and Jean (Maines) Abernathy on April 13, 1945.

Gary attended Rabb school and graduated from Covington High School in 1963.

On May 29, 1965, he married the love of his life, Pam (Woodrow) Abernathy, who survives.

He worked as a pressman at RR Donnelley in Crawfordsville from 1963 to 2000. He was a collector of many things, enjoyed fishing, canoeing with RaBob, cutting wood, gardening, piddling in the garage and barn, riding his motorcycle, playing in the snow and was a member of the West Liberty Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife Pam Abernathy; three daughters, Angela (fiancé-Jim Herman) Cottrell, Lori (Chris Colson) Abernathy and Melanie (Wayne) Reissmann; 6 grandchildren, Amanda (Zach), Jordan, Megan (John), Devin, Alexis, Wesley; 5 great-grandchildren, Logan, Eliott, Savannah, Aria, Charlotte; one brother, Jim (Connie) Abernathy; and special cousin, RaBob.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Moni Strawser and nephew, Rodney Strawser.

Cremation was chosen with a visitation from 4:00pm - 6:30pm on Monday, March 13th with a memorial service at 6:30pm at the West Liberty Church of Christ, 2806 W State Road 32, Covington with Stacey Abernathy officiating. Sanders Funeral Care is assisting the family.
