Gerald F. Whittington

Gerald “Pappy” F. Whittington, age 83 of Kingman passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Ben Hur Nursing Home in Crawfordsville. He was born in Clinton, IN on May 31, 1934 to the late Fuson & Hazel Irene (Samuels) Whittington.

Gerald graduated from Kingman High School in 1956 and on May 20, 1957 he married the love of his life, Roberta (Wann) Whittington, who survives. He proudly served in the United States Army, was a John Deere mechanic and drove a truck. He enjoyed fixing tractors, collecting John Deere toys, listening to country music, watching birds and taking walks in the woods, camping with the family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Roberta Whittington; a son, Wayne (Patricia) Whittington; a daughter, Jeri Whittington, all of Kingman; four brothers, John (Vickie) Whittington of Crawfordsville, Joe Paul Whittington, Rex (Robin) Whittington, and Max (Lora) Whittington, all of Kingman; two sisters, Anne (Gary) Pittman of Waveland and Jane (Bill) Ludlow of Bloomington; sister-in-law, Marilyn Whittington of Kingman; four grandchildren, Justin (Trish), Niccoma, Uriah, and Krystal; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and his cat, Apache.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Dale Whittington; two brothers, Tom & Frank Whittington; and a sister-in-law, Janet Whittington.

Visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street, in Kingman on Monday, May 14, 2018 from 4:00pm till the time of the funeral service at 7:00pm with Pastor Steve Crum officiating. Cremation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street, Kingman, IN 47952 to help the family with final expenses.
