Glen R. Sillery, 90, formerly of New Market passed away Tuesday morning March 22nd at Christian Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Glen served his country during World War II in the U. S. Army from 1944-45 in the Pacific Theater. He was with the Indiana State Police from 1950-1974 and served as the sheriff of Montgomery County from 1974-1980. His volunteer activities included working as a tax preparer for the VITA tax preparation service at the Crawfordsville Recreation Center and working at the F.I.S.H. Clothes Closet. He was an active member of the New Market United Methodist Church for all of his married life.

Born January 23, 1926 in Carpentersville, Indiana, he was the son of Roy C and Grace Crump Sillery. He was a 1943 graduate of Ladoga High School and was a graduate of the State Police Academy. He married Norma Jean Stout on August 20, 1950 at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Norma Sillery of New Market; a son Kevin Sillery and daughter Glenda (Thomas) Fetch of St. Louis, Missouri; dear friend John Strupel, grandchildren Christopher Fetch, Rachael (Wesley) McFarland, Matthew Fetch, Adam Fetch and great-grand daughter Keira McFarland all of St. Louis; brothers Morris (Sandy) Sillery of Jamestown and Roy (Janet) Sillery of Ladoga. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Sillery and his parents.

Visitation will be at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315 S. Washington Street, Crawfordsville, Indiana on Friday, March 25th from 3-6 PM. Funeral Services will be at the funeral home Saturday March 26th starting at 11AM with the Rev. Bill Pike officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery south of Crawfordsville on SR 47.
