Mr. Gordon R. Suiter, 74, Crawfordsville, passed away Sunday, May 26, at 7:05 AM in the Williamsburg Healthcare. He was born October 9, 1938, in Putnam County, to Harold R. and Hazel Delores (Hubble) Suiter. He was raised by his Mother and Step-father, Howard E. Bell. He married Caroline Wilson, April 25, 1958, in Crawfordsville. She preceded him in death October 21, 2008.
Mr. Suiter had worked over 20 years with the State Highway Department and had been a Montgomery County Deputy Sheriff from 1969 until 1973. He also had worked at the California Pellet Mill and in Security at the Weir Cook Airport, Indianapolis. He graduated high school in Phoenix, Arizona; was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church; and played in the Suiter Brothers Country Western Band.
He is survived by his daughter: Kristen (David) Jahn, Sarasota, Florida; his son: Mark (Sherri) Suiter, Crawfordsville; sister: Dixie Lutes, Crawfordsville; brother: Donald Suiter, Monticello; grandchildren: Camella Wilkins, (whom Gordon and Caroline raised), Crawfordsville; Daniel (Hirra) Suiter, Lafayette; Jennifer (Bill) Draper, Lafayette; Mattaniah Jahn, Sarasota, Flordia; and 4 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter: Kim Suiter, who died March 22, 1992; and a brother: Michael Bell.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 30, at 2:00 PM at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Rev. Tim Parsons officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill North Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from Noon until service time
