Mr. Grover Parker Perry, 88, Crawfordsville, passed away Monday, September 1st, at 11:50 AM in the IU Health-Arnett Hospital, Lafayette. He was born October 29th, 1925, in Beckville, to Grover Cleveland and Sarah Jane (Todd) Perry. He married Bonnetha Fay Mace on June 14th, 1947, in Advance. She preceded him in death on February 28, 2008.
Mr. Perry retired in 1990 after 12 1/2 years as a Fleet Mechanic with the Transport Service at Purdue University. He also had owned Perry's Garage in New Richmond and had worked for Herman Davis Chevrolet, Clifton-Quigg Fertilizer, Horner's Buick, and Shelby Chevrolet. He attended of New Ross Schools; was a member of the St. Paul Community Church, Linden, and a former member of the Elizaville Christian Church, Elizaville, Indiana; was a WW II U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran serving in the 858th Bombardment Squadron; was a member of the "Carpet Baggers" Grouup; and was a member of the 858th/492nd Bombardment Group.
He is survived by his children: Gary W. Perry, Remmington; Jack L. (Linda) Perry, Connie J. Tate, Sandra C. Rose, Alana K. Stradling, all of Crawfordsville; and Christina A. (Mark) Haderle, New Richmond. Also surviving is his sister: Louise Isenhower, Lebanon; grandchildren: Geoffrey Perry, Justin (Missy) Haderle, Alicia Rose, Valerie (Michael) Walden, Mindy (Wade) Bennett, Stephanie (Justin) Mefford, Summer Perry, Tyler (Talisha) Perry; 15 great grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 16 step-great grandchildren; 71/2 step-great great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Charles B. Perry, James F Perry, Robert D. Perry; sisters: Helen Geneva Butler, Lucille Whiles; granddaughter: Jennifer K. Rose; grandson: Daniel B. Perry; step-great grandchildren: Crystal Foster and Stacey Zachary.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Friday, September 5th, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Dr. Clayton Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery with Military Rites being conducted by the U.S. Army and the Crawfordsville VFW and American Legion Honor Guard.
