Guy Otis McCance

Mr. Guy Otis McCance, 95, Crawfordsville, passed away Sunday, October 2nd, at 11:14 PM, in the Franciscan St. Elizabeth Crawfordsville Hospital. He was born May 28th, 1921, in New Ross, to Floyd Otis and Mary Elizabeth (Stevens) McCance. He first married Roberta Macy on February 7th, 1942 in Waynetown. She preceded him in death on May 21st, 1968. He then married Jeanette Walter on October 23rd, 1971 in Crawfordsville. She preceded him in death July 4th, 2005.

Guy retired after 32 years with R.R. Donnelleys where he had been a Hoist Driver. He was a 1939 graduate of Alamo High School, where he played baseball and basketball and played guard on the 1938 basketball team that won the Montgomery County Tournament. He also was a WW II U.S. Army Veteran; a member of the Yountsville Community Church; a member of the Donnelley Club; and a member of the Waveland American Legion Post #323.

He is survived by his children: Karen (George) Venis, Crawfordsville; Larry McCance, Crawfordsville; David (Kay) McCance, Lafayette; daughter-in-law: Ramona (Loren Overby) McCance, Crawfordsville; sisters: Maxine Perkins, Crawfordsville; and Bonnie (Dale) Cohee, Crawfordsville. Also surviving are grandchildren: Kristina Tomey; Aimee Driesen; Kylene Patton; Ryan Venis; Casey McCance; Robert McCance; Morgan McCance; Jared Haugen; Michelle Shultheis; and 16 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael in 2007; his grandson: Timothy Venis; his daughter-in-law: Pam McCance in 2002; and his parents.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, October 7th, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Rev. Dorman Winger officiating. Burial will follow in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
