Harold Baker

Mr. Harold F. Baker, 86, Crawfordsville, passed away Friday, August 23, at 2:42 PM, in the Franciscan St. Elizabeth Crawfordsville Hospital. He was born April 5, 1927, in Montgomery County to Donald W. and Bernice P. ( Leonard) Baker. He married Jan Wall on February 9, 1952, in Parke County. She survives.

Mr. Baker was a retired farmer, having retired in 1992. He was a 1945 graduate of New Market High School; member of the Whitesville Christian Church; a WW II U S Army, 43rd Finance Division, Veteran; member of the American Legion Post #72, Crawfordsville; member of the Farm Bureau; and enjoyed playing cards and gardening.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Linda (Mike) Thomas, Ladoga; Donald (Linda) Baker, Veedersburg; and Duane (Christine) Baker, Hixson, Tennessee. Also surviving is his sister: Patty Utterback, Indianapolis; grandchildren: Michael (Jacque) Thomas; Tonya (Bryce) Know; Brian, Jeremy (Brittany), and Brittany Baker; and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Lois Sillery and Sue Baker.

Funeral services are scheduled for today, Monday, August 26, at 2:00 PM at the Whitesville Christian Church, 3603 S. Ladoga Rd., with Rev. Michael Whitacre officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Grant Avenue Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday, from 10:00 AM until the service time. Graveside Military rites will be conducted by the Crawfordsville American Legion and VFW Posts. Memorials may be made to: Whitesville Christian Church, 3603 S.
