Harry George Ratcliff Jr., age 77, of Covington and Kingman passed away at 11:05am on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Crawfordsville. He was born in Danville, IL on December 22, 1937 to the late Harry George Sr and Nora Mae (Manning) Ratcliff.
Harry graduated from Kingman High School in 1956 and married Rita S (DeAth) Ratcliff on November 22, 1990 in Covington. He was a farmer, truck driver, and an entrepreneur. He owned and operated H.G. Ratcliff Inc for over 35 years, drove a school bus for Covington and Fountain Central Schools for 20 years, and drove a bus for Turkey Run Canoe Rentals in the summer. He was a member of the Kingman Masonic Lodge 314 F&AM, Sons of the American Legion, a 32 degree mason, enjoyed horseback riding, horse shows, listening to country music, dancing, rodeo's, raced sprint cars, coached wrestling, pulled tractors, was known as a hard worker and loved his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Rita of Covington; three sons, Bruce (Michelle) Ratcliff of Kingman, Bryan (Kim) Ratcliff of Dana, and Bob (Rachel) Kemp of Covington; four daughters, Debra Mitchell from the east coast, Dottie Ratcliff of Kingman, Mary Hancock of Terre Haute, and Sherry Kemp of Fort Wayne; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild; his horse Libby and dog Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joan, and son, Bradley.
Visitation will be from 4-8pm Wednesday, May 20, 2015 with a Masonic Service at 8pm at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street in Kingman. Funeral service will be at 11am with an hour visitation before on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the funeral home with Kenny Majors officiating. Burial will follow at Kingman Fraternal Cemetery.
