Hazel Cord

Mrs. Hazel A. Cord, 94, died Saturday, July 7, at Eagle Valley Meadows, Indianapolis, where she had resided for 10 years. She was born March 31, 1918, in McAllen, Texas, to Lon and Louise (Boettger) Welsh. She married Lee R. Cord, Sr., on August 6, 1938, in Waynetown. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1968.

Mrs. Cord retired from R. R. Donnelley & Sons after 39 years. After retirement she worked part-time for Streetman Onesimus Services and Kwik Kopy. She was a 1936 graduate of Ladoga High School and Indiana Business College. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and played the piano and organ for nearly 50 years. She enjoyed bicycling and loved her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Nancy (John) Stipe, Indianapolis; Karen (Phil) Campbell, Crawfordsville; and Lee R. (Kris) Cord, Jr., Ft. Collins, Colorado. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Patty Bond; 4 sisters; 1 brother.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 10, at Noon, at the Eastside Baptist Church, 2000 Traction Rd., Crawfordsville, with Pastor Steve Whicker officiating. Burial will be at the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday, from 10:30 AM until service time.
