Helen Barker

Mrs. Helen M. Barker, 90, Peru, Indiana, formerly of Crawfordsville, passed away Wednesday, January 18, at the Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru. She was born June 27, 1921, in Terre Haute, to Raymond and Claudia L. (Akers) Cunningham. She married Ralph L. Barker, October 12, 1940, in Roachdale, Indiana. He preceded her in death in 2003.

Mrs. Barker was a homemaker; a graduate of Russellville, Indiana, High School; member of the Portland Mills Christian Church; the Order of the Eastern Star; and in her free time enjoyed working with her flowers.

She is survived by her daughters: Patty (Boyd) Sharp, Kingman, Indiana; Donna (Daniel) Day, Peru, Indiana; Deborah (David) Rawlings, Hagerstown, Maryland; and Linda (Earl) Taylor, Harrisonburg, Virginia. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters: Enola Clodfelter and Alberta Spencer; and a grandson: Randall Bowman.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21, at 1:00 PM at the Portland Mills Christian Church. Burial will be at the Portland Mills Cemetery.
