Mrs. Helen Maxine Fraley, 85, Crawfordsville, passed away Sunday, March 13th, at 1:45 PM, in the Lane House Nursing Home. She was born May 24th, 1930, in Danville, Indiana, to Alva Buren and Crystal (Pritchett) Pace. She first married Jimmie D. Harshbarger and they later divorced. She then married Clyde Nichols who preceded her in death. Later she married Wayne O. Fraley in September, 1985, in Gastonia, North Carolina. He preceded her in death in 2012.
Mrs. Fraley had been a Secretary and Buyer for Mid-States Wire until 1980 and then later worked and retired in 1980 from Pittsburg Steel in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was a 1948 graduate of Ladoga High School; was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crawfordsville and attended the Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Dallas, North Carolina; had been the Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #97, Crawfordsville; was a 50 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary; and in her free time enjoyed reading, doing housework, working on her yard, and growing roses.
She is survived by her son: Jimmie D. (Carolyn) Harshbarger, Crawfordsville; her sisters: Barbara Pace, Crawfordsville, and Edna Schamel, Greencastle; her brother: Franklin (June) Cating, Ladoga; grandchildren: Lori Kimmel, Cindy Peterson, Shannon Sandlin, and Kristi Winegarden; and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson: David Dale Harshbarger.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 16th, at The First Baptist Church, 1905 Lebanon Road, Crawfordsville, with Rev. Isaac Zull officiating. Burial will follow in the Ladoga Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the service time.
