Herman L. Hodges

Herman L. Hodges, age 69 of Crawfordsville passed away peacefully in his home on March 9, 2018 surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved.

He was born August 6, 1948 in Crawfordsville to Donald & Geneva (Webb) Hodges. He married Waynetta (Campbell) Hodges on December 22, 1984.

He retired from Crawfordsville Home Depot and loved and worked in carpentry for 40 plus years until he was forced to stop due to his illness. He loved sports and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed card games, corn hole, gardening, and spending time with his family. He loved to laugh and was the most amazing dad. He was hard-working, selfless, and giving to everyone he loved. He devoted his life to taking care of his family.

He is survived by Waynetta Hodges; his children, Tina (Eric) Hutchison, Jeremy (Ashley) Hodges, Kristyna (Jeremy) Grimes, and Arlie (Suad) Zeqiri; 10 grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Brenda (Donnie) Taylor, Randy Hodges, David (Christina) Hodges, Larry Hodges, Ricky (Susan) Hodges, Nola (Tim) Lee, Trixie (Steven) Cronkright, Reva (Tony) Spohr, and Michelle Hodges; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jackie (John) Nearon, Sharon (Mark) Mefford, and Trudy Hodges; and his brothers, Kenneth Mason, and Richard Hodges.

A special thank you to Southern Care Hospice for their loving care and support. Exceptional care was given by his nurse, Heather Grissom and aide Sarah Schaefer.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 4-7pm at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care (formerly Powers Priebe Funeral Home) 315 S Washington Street, in Crawfordsville. A short visitation will be on Monday, March 12, 2018 from 11-12 pm with the funeral at 12pm at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Fay officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Memorial donations may be given to the American Parkinson Disease Association (apdaparkinson.org) or the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, 1104 Big Four Arch Road, Crawfordsville IN 47933.
