Hugh Detchon

Mr. Hugh O. Detchon, 89, Crawfordsville, passed away Wednesday, January 21st, at 5:30 PM in the Lane House Nursing Home. He was born September 21st, 1925, in Montgomery County, to Harry O. and Minnie (Tinsley) Detchon. He married Ruth Ellen Miller on May 25th, 1944, in Crawfordsville. She preceded him in death on July 11th, 2009.

Mr. Detchon was a retired Farmer and had worked at R.R. Donnelleys for several years. He attended Waynetown schools; enjoyed showing small gas engines and his 1984 red Ford pickup truck; and traveling, especially out West.

He is survived by his daughters: Patricia (Ronald) Palin, Wingate; Janet (Bill) Fagan, New Market; Margaret "Meg" (David) Johnson, Ladoga; Barbara Detchon, Columbus, Indiana; and Dorothy (Mark) Barclay, Crawfordsville. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his 1/2 brother: Kenneth Whipple; and his son-in-law: Vernon Snyder, Jr.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, January 24th, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Whitacre officiating. Burial will follow in the Indian Creek Hill Cemetery, New Market. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from Noon until the service time.
