Mrs. Isabel M. Cash, 91, New Market, passed away Wednesday, August 17, at 10:10 AM, at Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health-Crawfordsville. She was born April 14, 1920 in Montgomery County, to Roy and Cora (Zachary) Taylor. She married Lloyd Cash on December 14, 1941 in Whitesville, Indiana. He preceded her in death in 2003.
Mrs. Cash retired in 1995 after 30 years as a Nurses Aide at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville. She was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School and her many memberships include: New Market Baptist Church, where she was the President of the Missionary Society, youth group sponsor, and on the board of trustees; 50 year volunteer for the American Red Cross; 40 year member of the Dorcas Society; Crescendos Home Extension Choral Club; Chapel Extension Homemakers; County Extension Health and Safety Leader; State Extension President; 4-H County Advisory Board; Chairman, County Girls School and Dorm Mom for the State School for Girls; President New Market PTA; Girl Scout Leader; Camp Fire Board of Directors; American Cancer Society; American Heart Association; Indiana Hospital Auxiliary Association; Culver Union Hospital Auxiliary, starting in 1948 and volunteering over 15,000 hours, and serving as its president, vice president, treasurer, corresponding secretary, board member, and on the scholarship committee. Mrs. Cash was the first recipient of the Culver AMI Executive Director's Award. In 1970 she was one of three nurses aides asked to take special training to work in the Intensive Care Unit at Culver. In referring to her volunteer work she always said, "As long as you're helping someone, its all worth it.
She is survived by her daughter; Sheila M. Smith, Indianapolis. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two sisters; Betty Manges and Jane Todd.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 22, at 10:00 AM, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville, with Revs. Andrea Leininger and Michael Whitacre officiating. Entombment will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery Mausoleum, Crawfordsville. Friends may call Sunday, August 21, at the funeral home, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
