Iva Joyce Williams Carpenter

Mrs. Iva Joyce Williams-Price Carpenter, 78, Darlington, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 17th, 2017, at 11:35 PM.She was born in Crawfordsville, on September 15th, 1938, to Merle and Dorthea Williams.At the age of 8 she was adopted by Raymond and Ruth (Walker) Price.She married Jack R. Carpenter in Thorntown on October 27th, 1956.He survives.

Iva worked along side of her husband on the farm and also had worked at the Colfax Furniture Factory as well as working in the Montgomery County Prosecutors Office from May 1986 until October 1996.She was a member of the Woodland Heights Christian Church and attended the Darlington Christian Church.She attended Bowers School and was a graduate of Lebanon High School.In her free time she enjoyed working in her garden and flower garden; watching NASCAR; and loved spending winters in Okeechobee, Florida, fishing.She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; playing games and cards; and going to football, baseball, basketball, softball, volleyball games and gymnastics meets that her grandchildren were involved with.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her 3 sons: Dennis (Kim) Carpenter; and Scott (Kristen) Carpenter, both of Darlington; and Michael (Brenda) Carpenter of Plainfield.Also surviving is her sister: Charlotte Marie Dixon, Noblesville; her brother: James Merle Williams, New Whiteland;grandchildren: Ben (Lauren), Lucas (Nikki), Elijah, Ethan, Kayla, Maggie, Ryan, Amanda, Braden (Hannah), Halle, and Karsyn; great-grandchildren: Kaybrie, Adliegh, Courtlyn, Caelyn, Cohen, and Malea.She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers: Roy Lee Williams and Ronald Keith Price.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 AM Friday, June 23rd, at the Darlington Christian Church, 101 Washington St., Darlington, with Pastor Brian Holt officiating.Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery at Darlington.Friends may call at the church on Thursday, June 22nd, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM.Powers-Priebe Funeral Home is assisting with the services.
