James D Ellis

James "Jim" D. Ellis, age 84 of Hillsboro passed away Monday morning on October 6, 2014 at home. He was born in Hillsboro on August 30, 1930 to the late James Verlin and Fredia Jane (Hershberger) Ellis.

Jim graduated from Kingman High School in 1948 and married Alberta (Sackmire) Ellis on July 2, 1950 in Kingman. Jim served in the United States Army as a MP from 1952-1954 and was stationed in Berlin, Germany. After the service, he worked as the maintenance supervisor at Southeast Fountain School Corporation then retired from PSI, Public Service Indiana, after 20 years. He was a life- long farmer, avid horseman, collected antique tractors, loved the outdoors and had a green thumb. Jim even grafted his own trees.

He is survived by his wife, Alberta of Hillsboro; two sons, Gary (Cindy) Ellis of Kingman and Jim H. Ellis of Veedersburg; a daughter, Melinda (David) Rabe of Plainfield; a daughter-in-law, Cindi Ellis; 7 grandchildren, Toby, Candace, Darin, Christy, Brandon, Casey, Caleb; and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother, a son Brad, and a grandson Jeremy.

Family will receive friends from 5-8pm on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street, in Kingman. Funeral services will be at 11am on Friday, October 10, 2014 at the funeral home with Ryan Sowers officiating. Burial will follow at Centennial Cemetery. Sanders Funeral Care entrusted with care.
