Mr. James Hayden Elmore, 91, formerly of Crawfordsville, passed away Monday, March 27th, at a very caring hospice facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born September 17th, 1925, in Crawfordsville, to Bun and Maggie (Richey) Elmore. He married Irma L. French on November 1st, 1947, in Waveland. She survives in Colorado.

Jim was a retired proof and plate reader, having worked for R.R. Donnelley for 38 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran; a 1943 graduate of Crawfordsville High School; and his memberships include the First Christian Church of Crawfordsville and the 741st Veterans Association. Making 8 hole-in-ones, he was an avid golfer throughout his life with a membership at the Crawfordsville Municipal Golf Course for over fifty years and later in Lakeland and Ft. Myers, Florida. He loved watching sports and helped coach some little league teams. He enjoyed planning trips and traveling with his young family throughout the US. He always had a large garden and was very generous with the produce. He was very devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren and his faith.

In addition to his wife Irma, he is survived by his children: Peggy and Bob Anderson of Georgia; Gary and Jami Elmore of Illinois; Margot Elmore of Florida; and Gail and Kim Millen of Colorado. Also surviving is his sister: Nellie Conrad of Crawfordsville; 8 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Denny Elmore in early 2017; his sister, Mollie Cooper; and his parents.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, April 8th, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Rev. Dennis Divan officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Union Cemetery at Waveland. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday by the Crawfordsville American Legion Post #72 Honor Guard and the U. S. Army
