Mr. James D. "Don" LaFollette, 93, Terre Haute, formerly of Crawfordsville and New Market, passed away at the Kindred Transition Care and Rehab, Terre Haute, on Wednesday, November 2, at 5:15 AM. He was born June 14, 1919, in Parkersburg, Indiana, to James "Ed" and Opal (Williams) LaFollette. He married Norma R. Kell on May 20, 1950, in Darlington, Indiana. She preceded him in death on February 2, 2004.

Mr. LaFollette retired from RR Donnelleys & Sonsin 1983 after 43 years, where he had been a pressman and tool crib attendant. In his earlier years he had also worked at A-Loaf Bakery and was a "soda jerk" at Producers Dairy. He was a 1937 graduate of New Market HIgh School where he played basketball. He was a Technical Sargeant during WW II with the U. S. Army Air Corps, having served in Sicily, Naples, Foggia, Rome, and Arno. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Crawfordsville since 1955, where he was a Deacon and Sunday School President; Donnelley Club President; Modern Woodman; Culver/St. Clare Hospital Laboratory Runner for 25 years; Hospital "Red Coat:" ; 50 year member American Legion Post 72, Crawfordsville; delivered Meals on Wheels; was the score keeper for Crawfordsville High School Basketball; and was a big I.U. basketball fan.

He is survived by his children: Janet Sue Harrison and James R. LaFollette, both of Terre Haute; his brother: Charles D. "Chick" LaFollette, Hurst, Texas; grandchildren: Aaron and Aarika Harrison; and great grandson: Elias. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 5, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville. Burial will be for family only at the LaFollette Cemetery in Parkersburg. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from Noon until 2:00 PM. Military Honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the VFW and American Legion Posts of Crawfordsville. Memorials may be made to the: First Christian Church, 211 S.
