James Lee Lewis

Mr. James Lee "Jim" Lewis, 78, New Market, passed away Tuesday, April 28th, at 6:45 PM, in the Lane House Nursing Home. He was born December 18th, 1936, in Rosedale, Indiana, to George Harold and Thelma (Kelsheimer) Lewis. He married Marilyn Louise Beaty in June 24th, 1955, in Terre Haute. She survives.

Mr. Lewis worked for A & P Groceries for 27 years, and was the Meat Manager at the Crawfordsville Store from 1963 until his retirement. He was a 1955 graduate of Rosedale High School; a member of the New Market Christian Church; enjoyed cards, mowing his yard, being with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, and really enjoyed taking his dog, "Taco" on rides in his red pick-up truck.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Sherry (Jim) Byrd, Chapel Hill, Tennessee; Stephanie Hoffman, Ladoga; and Stephen Lewis, Alamo. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, May 2nd, in the New Market Christian Church, 300 S. Third St., with Rev. Kurt Flora officiating. Friends may call at the church on Friday, May 1st, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. There will be a graveside service Saturday, at 1:00 PM in the Rosedale Cemetery, Rosedale, Indiana.
