Janet (Lowe) Whittington, age 73, left this life on December 25, 2012. She was born December 22, 1939 to Max E. and Helen (Taylor) Lowe. She graduated from Wallace High School in 1957 and leaves behind several close classmates. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Joe Paul Whittington and three daughters, Jean (John) Leibold of Pleasant View, Utah; Lori (David) Poer of Woodstock, Georgia; and Judy (Mark) Ratcliff of Kingman; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind several brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Joe Paul Whittington, Jr.

She was a co-founder and active member of the Wacky Weeders garden club. Janet enjoyed growing and exhibiting her flowers and vegetables at local fairs. She was a past member of the Tipmont Roundup Foundation board. She had also been an active member of the Southeast Fountain Community Foundation board. She had been involved with Fountain County 4-H programs as both a member and leader. She last served as assistant 4-H flower project superintendent. She also served on the 4-H council. Janet also served as a volunteer at the Danville hospitals for many years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Southeast Fountain Community Foundation, unrestricted fund. The address is P.O. Box 95 Veedersburg, Indiana.

According to her wishes Janet will be cremated. There will be a memorial service held at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street, in Kingman on Friday January 4, 2013 at 7:00pm with Rev. Kenneth Majors officiating. Friends may offer condolences starting at 5:00pm before the service. Sanders Funeral Care entrusted with care.
