Jannis Iolene Wright

Mrs. Jannis I. Wright, 79, of Crawfordsville, passed away May 28th, 2017, in the Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville, after a short battle with cancer.Jannis was born January 17th, 1938, in Clinton County, Indiana, to Oscar Bliss and Madge Pearl (King) Ottinger.She married James R. "Jim" Wright on May 4th, 1958, in Sheridan, Indiana.He preceded her in death on September 23rd, 2014.

Jannis was the owner and bookkeeper of Shopwright Supermarket of Crawfordsville and Co-owner of Kartimi Enterprises and US Express, both of Frankfort, before retiring in 2000. She also had the most beautiful flower department at Shopwright. She was a member of the Sheridan Christian Church and an Honor Queen of the International Order of Job's Daughters in Sheridan.Jannis enjoyed reading; going to casinos; shopping; and most of all spending time with her family.

Jannis is survived by her daughters: Karla Sue (Brad) House, Williamsport; and Myra (Wade) Galloway, Crawfordsville.Also surviving are grandsons: Kyle (Laura) Haslam; Kelby Haslam; Lucas Galloway; Jordan Galloway; great-granddaughter: Ruby Haslam; brother: Sam (Carol) Ottinger, Cicero; cousin: Marie Mosbaugh, Sheridan, who she considered a sister; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Tippy.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services are sheduled for 10:30 AM Thursday, June 1st, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home with Walter Grand officiating. Burial will follow with a graveside service at 1:00 PM Thursday in the Crown View Cemetery at Sheridan. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 31st, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
