Jean Lois (Brown) Childers, age 91, of Covington and formerly of Kingman passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at St.Vincent Hospital in Williamsport. She was born in Great Bend, Kansas on May 17, 1923 to the late Joseph L. and Ethel (Parker) Brown.

Lois graduated from Great Bend High School in Kansas in 1943 and married Lee H. "Bill" Childers on July 5, 1946 in Sterling IN. She was a homemaker, worked at the Kingman IGA, and retired from Steel Grip after many years. She was a member of the Kingman Christian Church, Kingman American Legion Ladies Auxiliary #384 and Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing bingo, sewing, was a great cook and known for her famous chicken and noodles and chocolate cake, but most of all she loved her family especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two daughters, Billie Jean (Steve) York of Kingman and Rose Marie (Bill) Leap of Vevay, IN; her twin sister, Louise Gunn of Great Bend, KS; three grandchildren, Richard (Mary) Weber, Marc York, and Randy (Jamie) York; seven great-grandchildren, Amiee, Andrew, April, Jaydan, Ty, Trent, and Savanna; six great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; two brothers, Leon and Douglas; and three sisters, Ulanda, Ava, and Rachel.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 12-2 pm with the funeral following at 2pm at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street in Kingman with Pastor Tim Lyons officiating. Burial will follow at Centennial Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to the Kingman American Legion Ladies Auxiliary or the Kiwanis Club of Vevay, PO Box 55, Vevay, IN 47043.
