Jerry L. Biggs, age 89, of near Darlington,passed away at 6:00 AM onThursday,January 18th, 2018, at his residence.He was born at home onJanuary 18th, 1929, in Spartanburg, South Carolina to William Eugene and Ruby Lillian (Mason) Biggs. His parents moved to Indiana in 1943.He married his high school sweetheart, Carol R. Henry onNovember 8th, 1947, at Rev. Cyrus Mears' home in Spencer, Indiana. They were married 70 years. She survives.
Jerry graduated from New Market High School in 1947. He was a Retired Linotype Operator from R.R. Donnelley with over 36 years. He also farmed. They had lived in the Darlington Community since 1963. He was also a member of the Freedom Baptist Church. In his younger years he loved to travel with trips to Alaska and Key West, being two of his favorites.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three grandchildren: Brian (Morgan) Biggs of Crawfordsville; Tracy (Brooks) Green of Westfield; and Cristy (Todd) Reed of Indianapolis; along with seven great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Paytin, and Addisyn Biggs; and Penelope, Isidora, Beckham, and Maverick Green. Also surviving are two brothers: Robert Biggs; and Michael Biggs. He was preceded in death by his son: Stephen Biggs in 2014; his parents; and his sister: Shirley VanHook.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday,January 22nd, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Freedom Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home onMondayfrom Noon until the service time
