Jerry Epperson, age 64, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 28, 2023, in Lexington, KY. He was born in Crawfordsville on December 7, 1958, to the late Leland and Dolores Epperson.
Jerry graduated from Southmont High School in 1977, where he played football and wrestled. He then graduated from Purdue University in 1981 with a BS Degree in Ag Econ. He joined the Navy after college, working his way up to Lieutenant. He had over 30 years of management in the food industry with companies including Frito-Lay, General Mills, Tyson Foods, ConAgra Food, Pacific Cheese, and Bremna Food Group. He was also an Insurance Agent at Bankers Life & Casualty. He was presently the General Manager of Hydroponic Farms and President of the Non-Profit Christian Organization, Restore3, which will restore land and communities impacted by abandoned coal mines. He was a member of Whitesville Christian Church, and his faith was an important part of his life. He was also a member of the Tennessee American Legion Post 2000. He was raised on a farm, was a 10 year 4-H member, and loved the outdoors, nature, and animals. He had a passion for cooking and loved oysters and morel mushrooms. He made friends everywhere he went and brought joy into their lives. Everyone who knew him adored him.
He is survived by 2 sisters, Amy Sanders (Ken Sweek) and Joni Keeling (Doug) both of Crawfordsville; 2 nieces, Mindy McCutchan and Jenna Justus; 5 nephews, Mathew Epperson, Sam Epperson, Kyle McCutchan, Lyndon Keeling, and Flynt Keeling; and a special friend Kawuna Lane.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Epperson.
Visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Care in Crawfordsville on Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 1:00 pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 3:00 pm with Tim Davis officiating. The service will be live streamed and recorded which can be viewed on his obituary page. Burial of cremains will follow at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery where Military Honors will be held by the United States Navy and American Legion, Post 72. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Leland and Dolores Epperson & Family Fund at the Montgomery County Community Foundation.
