Jerry Layman Seymour Sr

Jerry Layman Seymour, age 72, of Tangier passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving daughters. He was born in Brownsburg on July 29, 1942 to the late Albert Layman and Olive Eugenia (Copenhaver) Seymour.

He graduated from Perry Central High School in Fayette in 1960 and on September 3, 1960 he married the love of his life, Rita (Daupert) Seymour, who preceded him in death on February 22, 2015. He was a master carpenter who owned and operated Jerry Seymour Construction since 1973. He was a member of Mt. Hermon Bible Church and the Perry Township Fire Department. He enjoyed farming, gardening, canning pickles, sitting around the fire singing, going to tractor pulls and the sale barn, and long conversations with friends and family.

He is survived by two daughters, Dawn Seymour of Missouri and Tonya Seymour of Tangier; three sons, Jerry (Jayne) Seymour of Jamestown, Jim Seymour of Brownsburg, and Wade (Ramona) Seymour of Fayette; one sister, Janet (Jon) Giles of Brownsburg; sister-in-law, Kay Seymour of Brownsburg; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rita; and brother, Steve.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from 5-8pm at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street, Kingman. Funeral will be at 1pm on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Crum officiating. Burial will follow at Tangier Cemetery.
