Mr. Jerry Lee Stephens, 76, Crawfordsville, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, October 5th, at 3:30 AM. He was born January 25th, 1940, in Crawfordsville to Harley Loren and Minnie (Tate) Stephens. He married Donna Jo Kitts in Roachdale on July 12th, 1986. She survives.

Jerry had been a Co-Owner of the Red & White Groceries in Waynetown and New Richmond for several years. He also had been a Sales Rep for Grocer's Supply of Indianapolis; had delivered travel trailers for Morgan Drive-Away; was a Chaplain at the Montgomery County Jail Facility; and was dedicated to his evangelical work. He attended Waynetown Schools and the Tennessee Bible College in Chattanooga, Tennessee; was a member of the Fremont Street Baptist Church; a New Richmond Volunteer Fireman; a member of the New Richmond Masonic Lodge; and served in the Army National Guard at Crawfordsville. In his free time he enjoyed sprint cars, go-karts, dogs, and hunting.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: Loren (Teresa) Stephens, Waynetown; David (Cathy) Stephens, Waynetown; daughters: Tammy (Clay) Willmore, Columbia, Tennessee; Julie (Rick) Davis, Mace; and Jennifer Starnes (Craig Howell), Crawfordsville. Also surviving are his sisters: Esther Jane Stephens, Crawfordsville; Linda (Jim) Witham, Crawfordsville; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; an infant sister; and sisters: Annie Barnhart; Joan Lawson; and Judy Carroll.

Cremation was chosen with a Memorial Service being held on Saturday, October 8th, at Noon at the Fremont Street Baptist Church, 1908 E. Fremont St., Crawfordsville, with Pastor Dan Aldrich officiating. The family will greet friends on Saturday in the church from 10:00 AM until the service time.
