Joan Deck

Mrs. Joan Deck, 75, Crawfordsville, passed away Friday, October 19, at 7:32 PM, in the St. Elizabeth Crawfordsville Hospital. She was the daughter of David and Mary (Counts) McClain, born August 27, 1937, in Greencastle. She first married James Floyd Waltman, who preceded her in death. She later married Robert D. "Bob" Deck, on June 20, 1973, in Montgomery County. He survives.

Mrs Deck had retired after 34 years at Plastenes, where she was a Press Operator. She attended Crawfordsville Schools and enjoyed yard sales and flea markets.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons: Richard and Robert Waltman, both of Crawfordsville; sisters: Shirley Cox and Marilee Landgrave, both of Crawfordsville; Betty (Chico) Chessire, Terre Haute; 5 step sons; 21 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 24, at 2:00 PM, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, with Rev. Vernon Dowell officiating. Burial will be in the Indian Creek Hill Cemetery, New Market. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 23, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
