Joe Edwin Kirk

Joe E. Kirk, 89, of Darlington, passed peacefully on November 30th, 2017. He was born on September 4th, 1928, on the family farm, and lived for the remainder of his days. He was married May 11th, 1947, to his high school sweetheart, Patricia Lou Miles.

Joe is survived by his four children: Linda Kirk (Michael) Price; Mike Kirk; Steve (Claudette Etter) Kirk; and Larry (Karen Mikesell) Kirk; 7 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by is wife: Patricia; his mother: Edna L. Kirk; a brother: Louis G. Kirk; and his aunt and uncle: Louise and Raymond Kirk.

Joe farmed all of his life in addition to working at various companies. He had his own trucking business. He was well known for his custom welding and millwright service. He ran the production area at Dale's Machine Shop (later Enduron) in Thorntown for 31 years before retiring. As a student at Bowers High School, Joe was a standout basketball player. He enjoyed coon hunting in his younger years with his friend, John Royer. Greg Hole was also a good friend.

Cremation was chosen with a family gathering for a committal service at a later date in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Darlington.Powers-Priebe Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.In lieu of flowers, Joe's request is to extend someone in need a helping hand.
