Mr. John William Bronaugh I, 84, of New Ross, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 22. He was born on August 26, 1929, to the late Claude and Opal (Wall) Bronaugh. John has battled health issues since he was 6 years old and the Lord carried him through it all, including the last 6 years of kidney disease. He received the ultimate healing surrounded by family in the home he was born; on the farm in which he lived for 82 years.
He married the love of his life, Ruth Ilene Frederick, on June 3, 1951, in Jamestown. John was a member of the First Assembly of God, Crawfordsville. He was a hard working man of multiple occupations: truck driver, ditcher, lime spreader, custom corn sheller, school bus driver, and farmer. John enjoyed traveling with his wife; playing cards; watching old westerns; assembling puzzles; road farming; chatting with old friends; and watching traffic from his dining room table.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years; daughter: Deborah (Larry) Walters, New Ross; son: John (Anita) Bronaugh II, New Ross; and a sister: Net McCollough, Pittsboro. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Charles Bronaugh.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, December 27, at the First Assembly of God Church, 2070 Lebanon Rd., Crawfordsville, with Rev. Bill Parks officiating. Burial will follow the services in the New Ross Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday, December 26, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
