John Conkright

Mr. John B. Conkright, 76, New Ross, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, May 6, at 9:50 AM. He was born October 24, 1936, in Crawfordsville, to Faye and Margaret (Stockton) Conkright. He married Susan Swank on February 8, 1964, in Crawfordsville. She survives.

Mr. Conkright was retired from Navistar International, Indianapolis, where he had worked for 32 years. He attended Crawfordsville Schools; was a U.S. Army Veteran; was a strong supporter of Teamsters Local 98; and enjoyed camping.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Judy (Carl) Carrington, Crawfordsville; Susan (Larry) Whelan, Atkinson, New Hampshire; Julie (Larry) Ratcliff, Crawfordsville; John W. Conkright, Crawfordsville; Gary M. (Tammy) Conkright, Crawfordsville; and Tim G. (Sandee) Conkright, New Market. Also surviving are sisters: Mary (Bob) Daniels, Lebanon; Jane Conkright, Crawfordsville; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Ellery, Edward, and Walter Conkright.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 8, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Whicker officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill North Cemetery.
