John Vernon Nave

John Vernon Nave, age 81, of Crawfordsville passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville. He was born on August 13, 1943 in Cayuga to the late Otto and Virginia (Cook) Nave.

John graduated from high school in Chrisman, Illinois. He married Shirley Louise McVicker on October 24, 1960. He retired from RR. Donnelley's after 39 years. John was part of the opening team for the Donnelley plant in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He was an avid IU basketball fan. John loved spending time with his family, especially spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John will be missed by his wife of 64 years, Shirley; children, Rhonda (Dale Elliott) Day, Charles (Elizabeth) Nave, and Connie (Darren) Thomas; grandchildren, Chelsea, Taylor, Landon, Cody, and Alexis; great-grandchildren, Addisyn, Walker, Lane, Julia, Tyson, and Camden; siblings, Bill Nave, Joe (Judy) Nave, Patricia (Phil) Tingley, Russell (Anne) Nave, and Catrice (Chris) Gackle; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Nave; and sister Naomi Veach.

A visitation will be held for John at Sanders Funeral Care, 315 S. Washington Street in Crawfordsville on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 11:00 am until the time of funeral service at 1:00 pm with Pastor Kurt Flora Officiating.
