June Ellen (Wheeler) West

June Ellen (Wheeler) West, age 81 of Crawfordsville passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Ben Hur Nursing and Rehabilitation.  She was born in Montgomery County on August 11, 1937 to the late Robert E. & Maude (Burnam) Wheeler.

June graduated from Waveland High School in 1956 and married the love of her life, James “Jim” Thomas West on December 13, 1982 in Waynetown.  She retired from Pace Dairy then continued to work in housekeeping at the Lew Wallace Study and Comfort Inn.  She was a member of Woodland Heights Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and the VFW Auxiliary.  She enjoyed golfing, refinishing furniture, loved to watch sports and spend time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Jim West of Crawfordsville; two step sons, Gerald (Phyllis) West and Charles (Kathy) West, both of Crawfordsville; two step daughters, Elizabeth (Jim) Halfhill of Kentucky and Lori (Neal) Miles of Crawfordsville; two brothers, her twin – Jack Wheeler of Greencastle and Bob Wheeler of Browns Valley; four sisters, Jean Cornett of California, Darlene Brooks, Jane (Bob) Starnes, Sandy (Jim) Byers all of Crawfordsville; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Tommy, Bill & Jim Fred Wheeler; two sisters, Frances Livingood and Sue Sutherlin; and an infant step daughter, Kim West.

Visitation will be at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S Washington Street in Crawfordsville on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 11:00am till the time of the funeral service at 1:00pm with Pastor Steve Wilke officiating.  Burial will follow at Indian Creek Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E 91st Street Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.  Share memories and condolences online at www.sandersfuneralcare.com
