Katherine Alberta Ellis

Katherine Alberta Ellis, age 83, of Hillsboro passed away on April 6, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Indianapolis, IN on June 2, 1932 to the late Harold M. & Roma H. (Allen) Sackmire.

Alberta graduated from Kingman High School in 1950 and on July 2, 1950 she married James "Jim" Ellis, who preceded her in death on October 6, 2014. She was a homemaker and worked at Myers Department Store for almost 30 years. She loved the farm life and was known by her family and close friends as "Bert". She was a member of the Friends and Neighbors Home Economics Club and attended the Wallace Christian Church. She was an honest, easy going, kind person that always had a positive outlook on life. She loved spending time with her friends and family and nobody could beat her fried chicken and mashed potatoes.

She is survived by two sons, Gary (Cindy) Ellis of Kingman and Jim H. Ellis of Veedersburg; a daughter, Melinda (David) Rabe of Plainfield; a daughter-in-law, Cindi Ellis of Veedersburg; 2 sisters, Phyllis (Duane) Woodrow and Carolyn Millikan; 7 grandchildren, Toby, Candace, Darin, Christy, Brandon, Casey, Caleb; and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; a son, Brad; a sister, Betty Majors; and a grandson, Jeremy.

Family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street, in Kingman. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the funeral home with Ryan Sowers officiating. Burial will follow at Centennial Cemetery.
