Katherine Plunkett

Mrs. Katherine (Katie) E. Plunkett, 95, Crawfordsville, passed away, Tuesday, October 7th, at 2:55 PM in the Lawrence Manor Healthcare, Indianapolis. She was born March 5th, 1919, in Hendricks County to Joseph S. and Grace (Cloncs) Dozier. She married Paul L. Plunkett on June 22nd, 1935 in Greencastle. He preceded her in death in 1984.

Mrs. Plunkett retired in 1978 after 35 years as a Supervisor with Indiana Bell Telephone. She also had worked for 41/2 years at the Roachdale Telephone Company and for 2 years at Prestolite of Indianapolis. After her retirement she opened the Goodwill Store in Crawfordsville, where she worked for 5 years. In 1986 she moved to Arlington, Texas, and worked in retail for 10 years. She also had worked at the Lew Wallace Inn, Crawfordsville. She had attended North Salem, Roachdale, New Maysville, and Barnard Schools. Katie enjoyed spending time at the Senior Citizens Center and playing Bingo.

She is survived by her grandchildren: Victoria Rempel (John), Indianapolis; Melanie Gramling, Newnan, Georgia; Perry Plunkett, Fort Wayne; and Sally Faulkner (Shawn Smith), Smyrna, Georgia. Also surviving are her sisters: Ruby Hedrick, Crawfordsville; Helen Ogles, Avon; Geneva Long, Glasgow, Kentucky; Mary Anderson, Greencastle; 7 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son: Marvin Plunkett in 1996; and brothers: John, Bob and Ewell Dozier.

A Graveside Service is scheduled for 3:00 PM Tuesday, October 14th, in the Roachdale Cemetery with Rev. Anastasia Zinke officiating. Friends may call at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home on Tuesday, from Noon until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: Crawfordsville Senior Citizens Center, 922 E.
