Larry Joe Ammerman

July 1, 1946 — February 14, 2018

Larry Joe Ammerman, age 71, of Crawfordsville passed away on February 14, 2018 at Williamsburg Health Care. He was born on July 1, 1946 in Crawfordsville to the late Harry E Sr. & Marguerite Marie (Nelson) Ammerman.

Larry attended Crawfordsville High School and proudly served in the National Guard during the Vietnam Era. On September 25, 1965 he married the love of his life, Wanda Lee (Minick) Ammerman in Crawfordsville, who survives.

He was a mechanic and welder and owned and operated Ammerman’s Garage with his dad for 30 years and was a robotic welder at Heritage Products for 15 years. He was a member of the Crawfordsville American Legion, enjoyed watching NASCAR, and taught his family all about working on vehicles.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda, of Crawfordsville; two daughters, Janie McDonald and Carolyn Sue Walters, both of Crawfordsville; one brother, Harry (Nancy) E. Ammerman Jr, of Waveland; 4 grandchildren, Aleta Ann (Damon) Ryon, Desi Walters, Rissa Stemick, and Dakota Young; sister-in-law, Annie Minick; and family friend, Jean Lamkin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Larry Lee Ammerman.

Cremation was chosen with a visitation at Whitesville Christian Church, 3603 S Ladoga Road, Crawfordsville on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 1:00 pm till the time of the service at 2:00pm with Pastor Mike Whitaker officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Crawfordsville American Legion Honor Guard. Sanders Priebe Funeral Care (formerly Powers Priebe Funeral Home) entrusted with care.
