Larry J. Lewis

September 19, 1936 — March 9, 2018

Larry J. Lewis, age 81 of Kingman passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Miamisburg, OH on September 19, 1936 to the late Lawrence & Bernadette (Reichard) Lewis.

He graduated from Dayton Co-op High School in Ohio, University of Dayton, and received his Bachelors of Engineering from Eastern Michigan University. On March 4, 1961, he married the love of his life, Sharon Ann (Vordermark) Lewis, who survives.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon; two daughters, Jill (Bob) McCampbell and Jackie (Mark) Geyer; and five grandchildren, Ian (Kassandra), Ryan (Margaret), Samantha, Russell, and Andrew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Jerry Lewis and little brother, David Lewis.

Throughout the years he worked for NCR, Boeing, Jeep, and RR Donnelley & Sons as an industrial engineer. He was able to fulfill his life-long dream of working outdoors as a camp manager at Girl Scout Camp Talitha. He enjoyed caring for the forest and land; constructing and building trails and bridges. He created new activities and programs for scouts including building a maple syrup house and sharing his new hobby with the scouts and local schools.

He will be remembered for breaking out with a corny joke, silly limerick, or in song…” Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz? My friends all drive Porches, I must make amends……

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 12:00pm till the time of the funeral service at 1:00pm at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street, in Kingman with Celebrant Amanda Atkins officiating. Cremation will follow.
