Lavalla "Badge" H Brown

Mrs. Lavalla "Badge" H. Brown, formerly of Waynetown, IN passed away on Wednesday morning September 28th at Carle Hospital in Champaign-Urbana, IL.

Badge was born on May 16, 1927 in Shelby County Illinois, the daughter of Melvin and Gertrude (nee: Cox) Bridges and attended school in Illinois. She married John R. Brown on August 28, 1945 at Bethesda, Maryland. Badge and John worked in the retail grocery business in Illinois and Indiana and eventually owed the IGA store in Kingman, IN for 28 years. Badge enjoyed meeting people during her working years and in her retirement.

Badge is survived by her sons: Charles R. (wife-Linda ) Brown of Covington, IN; Kevin (wife-Donna) Brown of Champaign, IL. Daughters Carol A. (husband-Jim) Souk of Bloomington, IL; Sharon L. (husband-Jack) king of Urbana, IL; Pamela B. (husband-Randy) Gritten) of Darlington, IN and her daughter-in-law Kathy Wininger of Springfield, IL. She also loved and will be missed by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Badge was preceded in death by her husband on March 10,1999, her son Tom Wininger and 6 brothers and sisters. Funeral services for Badge will be held at 1:00pm Monday October 3rd at Shoemaker Funeral Home 202 Bratton Rd Waynetown, IN, with her grandson Pastor Rob King officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am Monday until the time of services at 1:00pm. At her request cremation will follow the service and a private family burial of the ashes will take place at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery at a later date.
