LaVon Beryle Vollmer, age 92 of Veedersburg, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at The Waters of Greencastle. He was born in Fountain County, Indiana on October 31, 1928 to the late Charles Francis & Margaret Louise (Grimes) Vollmer.
Beryle attended Rabb School and graduated from Perrysville High School on November 9, 1952 he married the love of his life for 64 years, Mary Frances Boyer, who preceded him in death on September 17, 2017. Beryle proudly served his country as a Sgt. in the 140th Tank Battalion of the United States Army where he was a tank driver during the Korean War. He worked as a switchman for the railroad for 34 years and worked for Wabash Railroad, Northfolk & Western Railroad, and Northfolk & Southern Railroad. He was a very talented musician and enjoyed playing the guitar, French harp, fiddle and singing.
He is survived by a son, Terry Lee (Jenise) Vollmer; a daughter, Star La (John) Elliott; 4 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a brother, Gary (Lucille) Vollmer; a sister, Shirley Alfrey; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary; an infant son, Timmy; two sisters, Alberta Schmidt and Vernell Keefe; a brother, Fred Vollmer; and a grandson.
Visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Care, 203 S 1st Street, in Kingman on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 12:00pm (noon) till the time of the service at 1:00pm with Pastor Tim Lyons officiating.
