Layton Sparks, age 77, of Crawfordville passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Core Nursing in Dale, Indiana. He was born in Lebanon on March 27, 1944 to the late Delbert and Vessie (Purdue) Sparks.
Layton attended New Ross High School and worked at Mid States Wire and Steel before retiring from Fleetwood in 2006. In 1961, he married Sharon Sue Eakle, she survives. He was a member of Harvest Fellowship. Layton served as a minister at Wesley Chapel for 8 1/2 years and New Ross Christian Church for 9 years. He enjoyed woodworking, puttering around in the garage, talking to people, driving, and going on trips. He loved his family very very much.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years; two sons, Brian Lee (Penny Lea) Sparks and Gregg Allen Sparks; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; three sisters-in-law, Mary Sparks, Cindy Sparks, and Vickie Sparks; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Roscoe Purdue, Morris sparks, Earl Sparks, Adrian Sparks, and Charles Sparks; and a sister Virginia Templeton.
There will be a visitation at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S. Washington Street in Crawfordsville on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 11:00 am until the time of funeral service at 1:00 pm with Pastor J.D. Bowman officiating. The service will be live-streamed and recorded and can be viewed on his obituary page at www.sandersfuneralcare.com. Burial will follow at Kingman Fraternal Cemetery.
