Leona Kyger

Mrs. Leona S. Kyger, 90, Bardstown, Kentucky, formerly of Crawfordsville, passed away Tuesday, December 10th, at 1:05 PM, in the Life Care Center in Bardstown. She was born July 14, 1923, in Bridgeport, Illinois, to John Wesley and Mollie Neely (Hannel) Swartz. She married Robert Harold Kyger on January 16, 1945, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death June 18, 2004.

Mrs. Kyger was the Co-owner with her husband of the Kyger, Inc. Propane Gas Company in Crawfordsville for 50 years. She attended New Middletown, Indiana schools and was a non-denominational church member.

She is survived by her children: Darlene (John) Boehm, Ladoga, IN; Libbie (Herb) Hazlewood, Bardstown, KY; Randy Kyger, Zephyrhills, FL; Roger (Kim) Kyger, Lagootee, IN; Kevin (June) Kyger, Roanoke, IN; and Richard ( Ina) Kyger, Shoals, IN. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister: Enola Swartz; brother: Robert Swartz; step-brother: Charles E. Swartz; and step-sister: Juanita Nelson.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, December 14, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, IN, with Rev. Scott Hanks, Rev. Janet Nichols, and Rev. Dennis Kinnan officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, December 13, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. There will also be a visitation 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday.
