Leonard Robert Shermer

Mr. Leonard Robert "Lefty" Shermer, 87, Crawfordsville, passed away Monday, August 21st, 2017, at 11:02 PM in the St. Elizabeth East Hospital, Lafayette. He was born onAugust 5th, 1930, in Palatine, Illinois.He first married Patricia Fouts.She preceded him in death.He later married Lola Mae "Sissy" Delano Hockersmith on September 8th, 2007, in Crawfordsville.She survives.

Lefty was retired after 42 years from R.R. Donnelleys where he had worked in the Pressroom.He was a 1948 graduate of Crawfordsville High School and attended Purdue University.He was also a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church of Crawfordsville.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son: Jeff Shermer, Crawfordsville; his daughter: Gail (Vince) Bostic, West Lebanon; step-children: Terry (Carol) Hockersmith, Crawfordsville; Debbie (J.D.) Watson, Meeker, Colorado; granddaughter: Marie; great-grandson: Keegan; 6 step-grandchildren; and 7 step great-grandchildren.In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his son: Greg; and his brother: Herman.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, August 25th, at the First Baptist Church, 1905 Lebanon Road, Crawforsville, with Pastors Issac Zull and Dan Aldrich officiating.Burial will follow in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.Friends may call at the church on Friday from Noon until 2:00 PM.Memorials in Lefty's name may be made to the church
