While visiting Lake Genova, Wisconsin she met Robert V. Clements. He was serving in the Navy during the Korean War and was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Station in Chicago. They fell in love and were married in Rockford, Illinois. Upon completion of his tour of duty, the young couple moved to Robert's hometown of Crawfordsville, Indiana and had three children.

Maureen was a long time member of Christ United Methodist church in Crawfordsville. She was blessed with the gift of service using that gift to assist with Vacation Bible School for many summers. She also volunteered at the church for about 14 years counting and recording the tithes and financial contributions it received. Additionally, she made deliveries for Meal-On-Wheels in the area for about 10 years.

Also in her retirement years she began the hobby of stamping and making greeting cards. She enjoyed this hobby with many good friends in the Crawfordsville area for several years.
