Mr. Lowell Eugene Hooten, 84, Crawfordsville, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 13th, at 12:45 PM. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 14th, 1932, in Harrisburg, Illinois to James Ernest and Eula Mae (Banks) Hooten. He married Betty Jane Kingston on November 10th, 1956, in Corinth, Mississippi. She survives.
Lowell was a Retired Millwright Mechanic having worked for 34 years at Inland Steel. He was a member of the Calvary Chapel Church, Crawfordsville; a Korean War U.S. Army Veteran, having attained the rank of Sergeant; and in his free time enjoyed fishing, hunting, being outdoors, and spending time with his grandson, Brian Euvino.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter: Brenda (Paul) Euvino, Crawfordsville; his sisters: Thelma Lane, Harrisburg, Illinois; Laverne Hardesty, Charleston, Illinois; Velma Wade, Portage, Indiana; and Carolyn Alvey, Harrisburg. Also surviving is his grandson: Brian Euvino (his girlfriend, Ashley Goodman); and a great-granddaughter: Laura Hodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Bill; 3 infant brothers: Wendall, Jesse, and Silas; sister: Juanita Dann; and an infant sister: Imogene.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 18th, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, with Pastor Dave Keesee officiating. Burial with Military Honors conducted by the Crawfordsville American Legion Honor Guard and the U.S. Army will follow in the Oak Hill South Cemetery, Crawfordsville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, April 17th, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and for One Hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
